Mom stabbed in neck after soldier breaches protection order

A 33-year-old soldier from El Socorro has been arrested for the breach of a protection order.

The soldier was arrested on Wednesday following an altercation which took place on June 5.

A report was made to the St Joseph Police Station the following day by the mother of his child.

She alleged that the soldier came to her home to have her sign a book for payment of child maintenance, to which she complied.

However, he was dissatisfied with her signature and an argument ensued between the soldier and the victim’s mother.

The soldier then allegedly attacked the victim with a knife, stabbing her twice on her neck.

She was able to escape to a room nearby and lock herself inside after her mother grabbed the knife.

The soldier also allegedly struggled with the victim’s mother, causing her to sustain injuries to her right palm.

The soldier was arrested by PC Antoine and a party of officers including a Northern Division Emergency Response Patrol (NDERP) Unit.

He was subsequently charged with the offence and is scheduled to appear at the Tunapuna Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
