More rain on Monday likely to exacerbate flooding in South Trinidad

A rainfall event is likely on Monday from early morning.

The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service in a Facebook post on Sunday at 10:35 am said, this could exacerbate the flooding situation in some areas in South Trinidad.

It said it is analyzing the situation and will be providing updates as the day progresses.

Several areas in South Trinidad including Penal, Debe and Barrackpore have experienced flooding over the last few days, with some areas still under water.

Flooding also occurred in the following areas: Rio Claro, Navet Village, Mafeking, El Carmen, Madras Road, Piarco By Pass Road, Fyzabad and South Oropouche.

A Riverine Flood Alert #3-Yellow Level remains in effect.
