More relief items needed for Dominica

The National Security Ministry is appealing to citizens to donate items to Dominica following a critical needs assessment conducted on the island.

The Ministry, along with the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force has been on the ground in Dominica offering relief to Dominicans following the passage of Hurricane Maria.

A Coast Guard vessel arrived in Dominica with around 2.28 tonnes of food items donated and collected from various stakeholders at locations throughout T&T.

The Ministry advised, however, that the following items are urgently needed:

Chain Saws 36 inch

Chain Saws 24 inch

Generators

Roofing Supplies

Gasoline and Diesel Fuel

Tarpaulins

Water

Food (pre-packaged for immediate distribution)

Medical supplies

Medicines for Lifestyle Diseases

Baby Cereal

Disposable Diapers

Ring Burner Stoves (single)

Sump pumps and hoses (for distributing bulk water)

The Ministry urged Corporate Trinidad and Tobago as well as private citizens to urgently offer their assistance by donating these relief items at locations previously identified by the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) and the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM).
