More Saharan dust incoming, to last longer than before

The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) is warning members of the public that there is expected to be an increase in Saharan dust from Friday, May 3rd.

According to the TTMS, a mild amount of Saharan dust is already present in the atmosphere. 

Citizens are advised that this dust may linger for weeks this time around. However, says the concentration is expected to fluctuate.

Saharan dust is a mixture of sand and dust from the Sahara, the vast desert area that covers most of North Africa. The dust negatively impact persons with sinus issues, asthma, the elderly and small children.
