More shots fired in Cocorite, residents living in fear

For the second time in a matter of days, the sound of gunshots resembling that of automatic fire was heard in the Cocorite.

The shots were heard between 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm Tuesday evening, and resulted in several residents of the area notifying the police.

However, despite the exchange, no injuries were reported.

(Video: Shots fired in Cocorite earlier this week. Another series of gunshots were heard on Tuesday evening.)

The gunfire, police suspect, was once again due to a confrontation between members of the Rasta and Muslim gangs that operate in the community.

As a result, officers of the Western Division, under the supervisions of ACP Forde and Snr Sup Pragg, have increased patrols in the area.

More on this as it becomes available.
