Moruga man dies in Barrackpore accident

A 21-year-old Moruga man lost his life while trying to save his vehicle from damage on Thursday afternoon.

The victim has been identified as Nadir Salick of La Ruffin, Moruga.

According to reports, Salick was driving along the Rochard Douglas Road in Barrackpore after visiting his sick father, former police officer Narine Salick, who has been hospitalised at the San Fernando General Hospital for the past week.

The younger Salick reportedly attempted to avoid a pothole near #3 Junction when he lost control of the vehicle and collided with an oncoming gas truck.

He died at the scene.

Police say there were no break impressions on the vehicle and believe the deceased was speeding.
