Moruga man hospitalised after brawl between neighbours
A 47-year-old man is nursing stab wounds following a fight between neighbours in Moruga on Monday morning.
The victim has been identified as Anthony “Rambo” Lawrence, of Figarie Trace, Moruga.
According to police reports, around 11:00 am on Monday, Lawrence went to his neighbour's house and got into an altercation. The altercation was said to have started from a previous disagreement.
The two got into an argument when a third person intervened, armed with a 'long knife'. The suspect then stabbed Lawrence in his chest and back.
Lawrence’s 26-year-old son came upon the scene and saw his father being attacked. He saw the assailant then run off to get a cutlass and dashed over to help his father.
The man's son managed to wrest control of the cutlass from the first attacker and in the process suffered injuries to his right hand.
With the cutlass in his hand, he rushed to protect his father who was still being attacked by the second assailant.
This led the second assailant to suffer injuries, inflicted with the cutlass as the 26-year-old rushed to protect his father.
The police were notified and Cpl Simon and a team of officers from the Moruga police station visited the scene.
Lawrence and his son were both taken to the San Fernando General Hospital for treatment.
The 26-year-old was treated and discharged, while his father remained warded up to Tuesday morning in a serious condition, having suffered stab wounds to his chest.
The two assailants were taken to the Princes Town Health Facility for treatment and were detained by police.
Sgt Seepersad is continuing inquiries.
