Morvant man hospitalised after chopping incident
A Morvant man is warded in a serious condition at the Port of Spain General Hospital, following a chopping incident on Sunday afternoon.
The incident reportedly took place around 5:00 pm along the Laventille Extension Road, Morvant.
According to police reports, Kasiya Rodney was seen arguing with a neighbour during which the alleged assailant went to his vehicle and returned with a cutlass.
Rodney was chopped several times by the armed man, who then fled the scene following the incident.
The Morvant man then went to his vehicle and drove himself to the Port of Spain General Hospital where he received treatment immediately.
He reportedly suffered a serious wound to his left wrist which had cut deep into the limb, almost severing it.
However, the injury was treated and there is minimal danger of the victim losing his hand, police were told.
A team of officers from the Morvant Police Station responded to the report, and were able to detain the suspect.
He is expected to be questioned, following which he will be brought before a Port of Spain Magistrate on Wednesday.
More on this as it becomes available.
