Motorists warned of sinkhole on Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway

Members of the travelling public are advised that a sinkhole has developed along the southbound lane of the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway near Courts MegaStore at UNICOMER in Freeport.

TTPS Road Safety Coordinator Brent Batson told loop TT that traffic is being diverted to the lay-by (roadway parallel to the southbound lane) and that the Ministry of Works has been notified.

When contacted for comment, Works and Transport Minister Rohan Sinanan said the sinkhole may be due to a culvert failure.

He gave the assurance that the Ministry’s engineers are on site to create a solution to the problem.
