Cleanup operations continue on the North Coast Road today. Work crews have been challenged by poor weather conditions which have lead to repeated landslips over the past few days.

Motorists are again being advised to avoid the North Coast Road as the slope along the roadway near the Maracas lookout has again come down.

The Ministry of Works and Transport has advised drivers to avoid commute to this area until further notice.

Work crews are at the site and is latest land slippage is being addressed.

The Ministry hopes to have the road in use in the shortest possible time - once the weather permits.

As it relates to a long term solution to the issues on the North Coast Road, the Ministry says a geotechnical study has to first be completed.

However, emergency work continues to have the roadway accessible to traffic.
