Murder in POS: Man gunned down
Police currently have no motive for the killing of 62-year-old Alvin “Wally” Wallace.
On Monday night, Wallace, who police said was known to them, was found slumped against a wall at the corners of Duncan Street and Prince Street, Port of Spain.
At the time, he had been shot multiple times and covered in his own blood.
According to police reports, around 8.30 pm officers of the Duncan Street Police Post, including PC Rodriguez and PC Baldowin, heard several loud explosions.
Upon investigating, they found the 62-year-old.
He was rushed to the Port of Spain General Hospital, however, he was pronounced dead on arrival by Dr Shakoor.
A team of officers led by Cpl Seelal visited the scene of the shooting.
Several spent shells were recovered by crime scene investigators.
Police are expected to review CCTV footage from cameras set up along the roadway with an aim to determine what happened.
However, up to 9 am today, they have no official motive for Wallace’s death.
An autopsy is carded to take place today at the Forensic Science Center in St James.
