Naparima Boys' footballer among two shot in Claxton Bay
An 18-year-old student of Naparima Boys' College and a 19-year-old man are both hospitalised after they were shot in Claxton Bay on Saturday afternoon.
According to reports, around 4:15 pm, student Tariq Andrews was seated in the front seat of a vehicle with his friend, Rondell Meharis, who was in the driver's seat. The vehicle was parked near Rose Hill and the Southern Main Road, Claxton Bay.
While there, both men heard a voice say, “oh dawg”, followed by explosions.
Meharis felt a burning sensation to the buttocks.
Meanwhile, Andrews felt a burning sensation to the left hand and leg.
Meharis drove the vehicle south along the roadway while shots continued to ring out.
He drove to the San Fernando General Hospital (SFGH) where he and Andrews are receiving medical attention and are expected to undergo surgery.
Both men are said to be in a stable condition.
