Narcotics, cigarettes, phones, chargers found at Golden Grove Prison

A quantity of illegal items was discovered at the Golden Prison during a routine search.

The items included narcotics, cigarettes, cellular phones, chargers and paraphernalia.

Members of the Criminal Investigation Department were called in and a full scale investigation were immediately launched into the discovery.

Acting Commissioner of Prisons Dane Clarke in a statement commended the officers.

Commissioner Clarke said the actions of these officers’ involved in the search signal response for the increase of searches as a measure to counter trafficking.

He also expressed his disdain for the rogue officers who have no regard for their colleagues, and are intent on plying their trade even as their colleagues are losing their lives.

The Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service assured members of the public that it will operate without fear or favour.
