Narrow escape for driver after shooting in Laventille
A 33-year-old man narrowly escaped with his life following a shooting incident in Laventille, where a group of men opened fire on his car.
The victim was said to be driving his orange station wagon through Block 22, Laventille when he observed a group of men standing along the roadway.
The men, on seeing the car, pulled out firearms and began running towards the vehicle.
Fearful for his life, the driver threw his gear into reverse and sped away from the scene.
He heard several loud explosions and saw his vehicle being shot at.
While attempting to escape, he crashed his vehicle into another car which was parked along the roadway.
The victim then ran out of the car, and onto the roadway where he made good his escape.
Thankfully, he was not injured in the attack.
The police were notified and a team of officers from the Besson Street Police Station and the Inter-Agency Task Force responded.
Several spent shells were recovered from the scene.
