After months of waiting, masmen and calypsonians will finally get their prize money.

The National Carnival Commission (NCC) will begin the distribution of cheques from today.

The official cheque distributions will run from today from 9 am to 3 pm to Friday, July 5.

NCC said prize monies for the season’s Mas events will be distributed at the NCC’s Mas Registration and Adjudication Office, Queen’s Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain, for the following categories:

  • All Junior and Senior competitions (including Kings and Queens and Parades of the Bands)
  • All Individual Characters competitions
  • All Traditional Characters competitions

Cheques for all TUCO-hosted competitions will be distributed at the NCC’s Head Offices, 11 St. Clair Avenue, Port-of-Spain, during the same period.

In a release, the NCC apologised for the late payments.

"The NCC deeply regrets any inconvenience caused by the delay in effecting these distributions, which were originally scheduled to take place much earlier in the year. We sincerely thank the Mas and Calypso communities, as well as the public, for their patience and understanding, and for working closely with us, as we sought to bring this issue to satisfactory closure.

"Going forward, the NCC wishes to assure the public and the Carnival communities that we will continue to work closely with all parties concerned to ensure that all awardees are able to receive their prizes in a more timely fashion as planning continues for Carnival 2020," the NCC said.

If you are eligible for prize money from the NCC, you are asked to have in your possession at least one form of valid picture identification (National ID Card, Driver’s Permit, or Passport).
