NEC investigates reports of ‘gunshots’ at La Brea Industrial Estate

The National Energy Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago (NEC) is investigating a report what it said appeared to be sounds of gunshots on the La Brea Industrial Estate.

In a statement issued on Saturday, National Energy said incident occurred on Thursday night and was reported to corporation by one of its tenants.

The corporation said it immediately engaged the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) and preliminary investigations have been completed.

It said thus far, there has been have no evidence of a shooting nor has any spent shells been found.

On Saturday, President of National Energy, along with other members of the Company’s management team, visited the La Brea Industrial Estate to meet with affected tenant.

NEC added that although it is confident that its current security measures meet internationally established standards, both parties agreed to collaborate in order to implement additional procedures to strengthen and enhance security on the estate.

It further noted that it has now heightened security on its estates.
