New platform seeks to increase sales for Carnival stakeholders

A team of three technology entrepreneurs have created an e-commerce platform and an online marketplace to increase sales for Carnival stakeholders.

M, the e-commerce platform from CarnivalMas provides a complete management solution to carnival bands, by bringing cutting edge technology such as machine learning and AI to the carnival industry. This allows carnival bands to be more efficient while providing a more delightful experience to its masqueraders.

Carnival Connect will allow vendors to sell their products online.

The CarnivalMas team consists of two Trinidadian expats and an American Developer.

Co-Founder Matthew Houllier explains that their love of the Carnival season and their passion for technology birthed the company.

CarnivalMas is focused on solving the problems that many bands are having, among them: keeping track of Carnival inventory and having a system that can scale with the growth of a band.

Leveraging their collective experience of 20 years in software engineering, 10 years in physical point of sale deployment and management, and 10 years e-Commerce and online shopping cart management, they designed and built the system from scratch.

“Our Carnival management software is simply called M. One of our differentiating factors is that each band that we partner with gets their own private installation of M. That means they can customise it to suit their needs,” said Houllier.  “M is able to handle the band's inventory, point of sale, online checkout and CRM just to name a few features.”

In the space of 15 months, CarnivalMas is now operational in Trinidad, Barbados, Jamaica, USA, and the UK. In the expansion of the M product, they realised the gap in the market for Carnival stakeholders to vend their goods electronically.

‘Our focus really is to wow the client and the masquerader at every junction possible," said Houllier, “Thus our next product focuses on empowering bands to bring carnival related products and services directly to the masquerader at the point of costume purchase."

Carnival Connect is set to be unveiled at the Fantasy and Entice Carnival launch on July 22.
