Reports of electrical outages in Penal are unrelated to network expansion works by the National Gas Company (NGC).

This, as NGC said there has been no impact on the supply of gas to Trinidad Generation Unlimited (TGU) following its network upgrade works on Sunday.

In a statement following the completion of the works, NGC said its scheduled works crossed the critical exposure point and the supply of gas to TGU remained uninterrupted.

The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (TTEC) on Friday advised that expansion works by NGC on its network on Sunday could result in a loss of electricity, and appealed to citizens to manage their use of air-conditioning units, dryers, water-heaters, and other non-essential, high-energy using appliances.

The scheduled expansion works were carried out between 7 am and 3 pm.
