Nigerian national attacked in Chaguanas

A 36-year-old Nigerian national is warded in a serious condition at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex after he was attacked in Chaguanas yesterday morning. 

The victim, police said, was standing in the vicinity of the main road, near Busy Corner, when at about 7am he was attacked by a man known to him. 

The assailant was armed with what appeared to be a cutlass. 

The victim was chopped several times about the body in front of several witnesses, as he attempted to scamper for safety. 

Persons in the area attempted to intervene and the suspect fled the scene. 

The police were immediately notified and officers of the Central Division responded. 

The victim was rushed to the Chaguanas District Hospital where he was treated, before being transferred.
