No Lifeguards at Maracas and Tyrico Bay as facilities undergo repair
Lifeguard Services are not available at Maracas Bay and Tyrico Bay this weekend due to ongoing emergency repairs and maintenance at those facilities.
In a release, the Ministry of National Security is advising the general public and in particular beachgoers to exercise caution at both beaches.
The repairs follow a meeting with officials of the Ministry of National Security and members of the Lifeguard Services on Wednesday to discuss matters affecting lifeguards assigned to the Maracas Beach facility.
The Ministry’s Executive informed Lifeguard representatives that plans are in place to execute major upgrades to the Maracas Beach facility, starting in July 2019 and continuing over a six to eight week timeframe.
All parties agreed to collaborate closely to ensure that issues are resolved in the shortest possible time as public safety continues to be a top priority.
