No new COVID-19 cases in T&T; PM to provide update on reopening today

No new COVID-19 cases have been recorded in over a month.

The number of confirmed cases remains at 116.

In its 10 am update, the Ministry of Health said 3131 samples have been submitted to the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) for COVID-19 testing - nine more compared to its 10 pm update.

As of Saturday morning, a total of 2691 unique patients tests were completed, while 440 tests were repeated.

There are also no hospitalised patients in the public health system; 108 patients have been discharged.

Eight people have died from the virus.

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley is expected to address the nation at 2 pm on Saturday.

Earlier this week, the Prime Minister said he would be in a position to make certain decisions, following a meeting with the health experts.

"Hopefully, if the trend continues…if we get the same data, I expect to be in a position to advise of some significant opening up, and I think that would be good news for those persons who have been directly affected.”
