No pathologist at Forensic Sciences Centre after aircon goes down
Created : 5 February 2019
Questions were asked as to why there was no pathologist on duty at the Forensic Sciences Centre on January 31, 2019.
National Security Minister Stuart Young responded to questions put forward by Opposition Senator Wade Mark during a sitting of the Senate on Tuesday.
Young said however that the Centre was not closed but the pathologist chose not to work due to the air conditioning not working on January 31, 2019.
“The Forensic Sciences Centre was reopened on Friday, February 1st, and I’d like to put on record there was only one day, and it was not that the centre was closed but rather that the pathologist took a decision that he did not want to work that day, on the 31st of January, because the air conditioning in the interview room was working,” he said.
Young said the air conditioning was repaired on the afternoon of January 31, 2019, and the Centre was re-opened on February 1, 2019.
