Non-nationals in court after 50 rounds of ammo seized

Three persons, suspected to be Venezuelan nationals, are expected to appear before a San Fernando Magistrate after they were held this weekend with estimated 50 rounds of assorted ammunition.

The men were held on Saturday during a police exercise by officers of the South Western Division.

The officers received intelligence which led them to a shed along Mathura Avenue, Penal, where they met the three men.

The men were stopped and searched, and in a plastic bag hidden in a knapsack, the officers allegedly found and seized the ammunition.

As a result of the finds, the three men were immediately detained.

Officials from the Immigration Department were notified.

Charges were laid against the suspects in relation to this find.

More on this as it becomes available.
