Nothing sacred: Bandits strike Sangre Grande mosque

It seems that nowhere is off limits to the reach of criminal elements as Sangre Grande Police are investigating a report of a robbery at a mosque in the area.

According to police reports, around 9 pm on Tuesday, the mosque, which is located along the Toco Main Road, Sangre Grande, was secured by Imam Hassan Ali, who went away to conduct his personal business.

Around 5:30 am on Wednesday, Ali returned to the mosque and observed that the locks had been tampered with.

Further examination revealed that the prayer room had been ransacked.

A donation box had been tampered with and a sum of cash that had been inside the box was missing.

Groceries which had been left in the room were also missing.

The police were notified and officers from the Sangre Grande Police Station are continuing inquiries.
