Notice: Works begin on Sea Lots pedestrian overpass

Construction of the Sea Lots Pedestrian Overpass between north of the Port of Spain Central Market Compound and south of the SWMCOL Transfer Facility Compound is currently ongoing.

Notice of the scheduled works was given by the Programme for Upgrading Roads Efficiency (PURE) Unit of the Works and Transport Ministry on Wednesday, advising the public that construction on the project is expected to be completed by September 29, 2017 and will be undertaken from Mondays to Fridays from 7am to 4pm.

PURE advised that work activities may require the use of the shoulder and acceleration and deceleration lanes of the eastern side at the intersection of Abattoir Road and the Beetham Highway, and the western side at the intersection of Production Drive and the Beetham Highway.

Every effort will be made to divert traffic when using heavy machinery, it added.

Motorists and pedestrians are advised to proceed with caution and observe all directional signs and barriers, drive at a reduced speed on approaching the work zone, comply with instructions from police officers on site to facilitate a safe and orderly flow of traffic, and be aware of heavy equipment entering and exiting the site.

Those seeking further information can visit the Ministry’s website at or call the PURE Unit at 638-2350/675-4052.
