NP probes fuel contamination at Diego Martin gas station

An investigation has been launched by National Petroleum (NP) following fuel contamination at the NP Diego Martin Service Station on Wednesday.

Super fuel was inadvertently discharged into the Diesel fuel storage tank around 1 pm on Wednesday, prompting the suspension of the sale of diesel fuel at this station.

Maintenance technicians were immediately deployed to the site to remove the product from the tank and flush the entire system.

Video footage circulating on social media showed super gasoline being drained from diesel-powered vehicles at the Diego Martin service station.

A new supply of diesel was subsequently delivered to the service station.

NP said Premium and Super fuel were unaffected, and the sale of these products continued without issue.

The company stressed the importance of following established procedure for the receipt of fuel at service stations so that the motorists continue to receive good fuel quality.

NP stated its commitment to ensuring the quick resolution of this matter.
