'Nutsman' charged with Aripero man's murder

A South Oropouche man has appeared before a Siparia Magistrate charged with the murder of 29-year-old Andre James which occurred on June 8.

James, also known as ‘Rambo’, a labourer of Aripero Village, South Oropouche was shot while at his home on June 2.

He was taken to hospital where he died one week later.

60-year-old Lennox Andrews also known as ‘Nutsman’ of Aripero Village, appeared before Margaret Alert in the Siparia 1st Magistrates’ Court on Monday in relation to the crime.

He was arrested by officers of the Oropouche Police Station on June 2 and was subsequently charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition by PC David Williams on June 6.

Andrews was also charged with murder after advice was received from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Joan Honore-Paul on June 6. He appeared in court on the same date.

The matter was adjourned to September 3.
