Officer in court on misbehaviour allegations

A Police Constable (PC) who was last attached to the Maraval Police Station has appeared before a Port of Spain Magistrate on allegations of misbehaviour in public office.

PC Glen Sanyuan, was also charged with corruptly receiving $2,000 and $3,000 in cash.

The charges were laid indictably and the accused was not called upon to enter a plea.

He appeared before Magistrate Kerri Honore-Narine in the First Court, who granted bail at $500,000, with conditions.

One of these conditions was that the police officer surrender his passport.

The case was then adjourned to April 22.

Due to the nature of the case, an official from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions will have to be appointed to prosecute the matter.
