Officer detained after wife is shot

Officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service were forced to arrest one of their own men and hospitalise a female officer after a domestic incident last night.

According to police reports, Sgt Dale Ramroop had just returned to his Barrackpore home from an event with his common law partner, WPC Nicolette Persad, when an argument ensued. A ‘struggle’ also took place which led to shots being fired.

Persad was hit twice in the chest. She was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital where she remains in stable condition.

Police recovered two pistols, four magazines and 61 rounds of ammunition on the scene.

The TTPS has confirmed that Ramroop remains in police custody as they continue their investigations.
