Officers shot at by suspects in Carapo
Police officers in patrol in Carapo allegedly came under fire during a routine police roadblock exercise.
Police said however that no injuries were reported in this incident.
Loop News was told that around 4.00 am on Monday, the officers were on patrol along Race Course Road, Santa Rosa when they had cause to intercept a white Nissan Wagon.
The vehicle came to a stop in the vicinity of the Santa Rosa Race Course Car Park.
Two officers alighted from their police vehicle and approached the wagon.
However, when the officers arrived near the car, one of the windows went down and a loud explosion was heard.
The officers took cover and drew their licensed firearms, and returned fire.
The wagon then sped off and the occupants escaped.
The officers gave chase, however, the suspects were not held.
With the assistance of other units from the Emergency Response Patrol Unit, comprehensive checks were conducted, however, the suspects could not be located.
There were no injuries or damage to any property.
