OJT registration begins; persons between 16-35 urged to register
The Minister of Labour and Small Enterprise Development Jennifer Baptiste-Primus has announced that registration for the Ministry’s On-the-Job (OJT) Programme has begun.
OJT is a pre-employment programme which offers participants between the ages of 16-35 an induction into the world of work and focuses on their acquisition of practical occupational skills and experience within organisations (public and private) in Trinidad and Tobago.
The programme facilitates the placement of trainees for a maximum of 24 months at five different qualification levels and corresponding stipend rates as follows:
1) Level 1 CXC, Craft Level Training $2750
2) Level 2 Cape, A Level, Diploma $3960
3) Level 3 Associate Degree $4950
4) Level 4 Undergraduate Degree $6875
5) Level 5 Postgraduate $7920
The Minister of Labour, in a statement called on all young citizens within the specified age group to take full advantage of the opportunity to be exposed to the intricacies of practical workplace experience made possible through government’s two-year OJT programme.
She encouraged persons between the ages of 16 years and 35 years to register.
“It is the expectation of the minister that nation’s young person’s embrace the opportunity and register within the coming weeks,” the statement said.
Interested persons are advised that registration centres are located at the Ministry’s Offices at Tower C, International Waterfront Centre, Wrightson Road, Port of Spain; Anva Plaza, Tunapuna; St. James, San Fernando and Connector Road, Chaguanas.
The Ministry noted that details regarding registration have been posted on its website (molsed.gov.tt) and can also be obtained from the offices aforementioned.
Registration forms are available on the ministry’s website.
Interested persons are required to fill the out the forms and visit the nearest OJT Office, professionally dressed with the completed application and accompanying documents.
They must also bring along original and copies of the following documents: School/Academic Certificates, Electronic Birth Certificate, National ID Card, Resume’ and a recent utility bill (issued not more than 2 months prior to date of application).
