One dead, three held after police-involved shooting

One man is dead while his three teenage accomplices are in custody following a shooting in Tunapuna Friday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Brandon Bruce, of Macoya Gardens.

According to police reports, at 3am, a team of officers from the Northern Division were responding to a report of a robbery at a secondary school along El Dorado Road, Tunapuna.

Upon their arrival, they observed a vehicle outside the school.

The officers reportedly were greeted with gunfire.

The lawmen returned fire, hitting the suspect several times.

The wounded man was rushed to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Three other young men, said to be between the ages of 16 and 18, were allegedly found inside the compound following the shooting.

They were all detained as a result.
