Update: Venezuelan killed in Caroni accident

Update January 19, 2020, 1.22 pm: 

The man who was killed in a fatal road traffic accident on Saturday morning has been identified as Venezuelan national Victor Garcia.

Garcia, who is originally from Tucupita, was identified by his registration card and people who knew him, who confirmed his identity after viewing his body.

An autopsy was scheduled to take place on Monday at the Forensic Science Center in St James as investigations into this incident continue.

This is the ninth road fatality for the year.

According to police reports, around 5.40 am on Saturday officers of the Chaguanas Police Station received intelligence of a road traffic accident along the Caroni Savannah Road.

A team of officers led by Cpl Sixto responded, and when they arrived they found a vehicle which had been completely wrecked along the roadway.

The vehicle appeared to have flipped several times and landed on its hood.

Garcia was found to be unresponsive at the scene, while three others were rushed to the Chaguanas District Health Facility for treatment.

One man is dead, while three others are injured following a fatal road traffic accident on Saturday morning in Chaguanas.

The deceased has not been positively identified up to 9 am today.

From initial reports, at about 5.40 am officers of the Chaguanas Police Station received intelligence of a road traffic accident along the Caroni Savannah Road.

A team of officers led by Cpl Sixto responded, and when they arrived they found a wrecked vehicle along the roadway.

The vehicle appeared to have flipped several times. One victim, a man, was discovered unresponsive at the scene.

Three others were rushed to the Chaguanas District Health Facility for treatment.
