One held by police as kids, 9, 11, shot in Maloney

A 21-year-old man is said to still be in custody aiding police with inquiries following the shooting of a 9-year-old boy and his 11-year-old sister in Maloney on Friday night.

The suspect was among a group of people that was arrested during police exercises on Saturday morning in Maloney Gardens.

The exercises were led by Snr Sup Jacob, with assistance from ASP Edwards, Sgt Grant, Sgt Debier, and several others. 

The suspect was detained after he was allegedly held with a .45 Colt Beretta on his person.

He was also said to have matched the description of one of the men who was seen running with firearms on Friday night during the incident which left the brother and sister nursing gunshot injuries to their hands.
