Over 100 speeding tickets issued in 7 days
The public is being reminded to obey the speed limits of the nation’s roadways.
This comes following police exercises in the Northern Division over a seven day period which resulted in over 100 people being issued tickets for driving in excess of the speed limit.
The Division, which is spearheaded by ACP McDonald Jacob and Snr Sup Michael Daniel, has been conducting several policing initiatives in the district in an attempt to reduce crime and criminal activities and to make the district a safer place.
Among these initiatives are speed-exercises along both the Eastern Main Road and the Churchill Roosevelt Highway.
And alarmingly, motorists continue to breach the speed limits, which currently stand at 50km/h for the mainroad and 100km/h for the highway (for sedans).
As a result, they were ticketed, and the fines are expected to be paid, unless an application to challenge the fines are made before the courts.
