Over $100K stolen from safe in variety store

Bandits in Port of Spain managed to steal an estimated $129,000 which was being kept in a safe at a variety store.

On Monday morning, workers of the Yips Variety Store located along Charlotte Street, Port of Spain, returned to the business, after securing it the day before.

Upon entering, they observed the store had been ransacked.

Checks were made and it was soon realised that a safe which contained the cash, had been broken into.

The cash was missing.

A hole was observed in the ceiling of the southern side of the building, in a storage area above the main office.

The police were notified and a team of officers from the Port of Spain Division visited the scene.

WPC Lewis is continuing inquiries.
