Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the Oilfields Workers’ Trade Union (OWTU) has decided to cancel the May Day march and rally that was scheduled to take place in San Fernando on May 1, 2020.
The union has also opted to postpone the Labour Day Primary School Competition which was initially scheduled to begin on May 20, 2020. As such, the OWTU has written to the Ministry of Education advising them of this decision.
“It must be noted that because of our commitment, the competition has not been cancelled but we will continue to monitor the situation. A revised date will be based on the Government’s instruction and the Ministry of Education schedule.”
The trade organisation says it has joined the rest of the world in seeking to bring an end to this pandemic and adds that it will advise on any further decisions being made.
