Palmiste, Union Hall residents warned of wandering bandits

Residents in Union Hall and Palmiste are being warned of an alleged bandit who initially asks residents for directions then snatch purses and other items from them.

In a post to local Facebook group, ‘Things to do in South Trinidad’ on Wednesday, Junior Phillip said the person claims to be from Indian Walk, Moruga.

“Good day folks and permit me to post. Residents of Union Hall and Palmiste please be aware of an individual with the following description. Young Afro Trinbagonian male, late 20's early 30's, 5' 7" tall and wearing a dark blue and green striped polo shirt, green 3/4 pants and slippers on his feet. He has a speech impediment (stammers) and claims he's from Indian walk Moruga.”

“Although he is begging, he does not have to appearance of a beggar and has a well-marked beard. He had a driver and vehicle parked a distance away and looks for persons who are now coming out of a vehicle.”

“Or where he can get close to you and snatch any jewellery and or items away from you. There are guys who are asking for directions, they come up to you and snatch your jewellery or wallet/purse from you and run off to a waiting vehicle. Be careful folks,” Phillip said.

Citizens also commented after a video of another robbery, said to have taken place in Claxton Bay, was recently shared online.

The information has been relayed to the authorities.
