Part of eastbound lane of Beetham H'wy closed for repairs

Drivers are advised of a traffic disruption along part of the Eastbound lane of the Beetham Highway this weekend due to repair works.

The Ministry of Works and Transport (MOWT) said in a statement issued Wednesday that repairs will be carried out from Friday, February 15, 2019, at 9:00 pm to Monday, February 18, 2019 at 4:00 am.

The repairs will take place between the Lighthouse and Abattoir Road along the Eastbound lane of the highway.

As a result, the Westbound lane will be made a dual carriageway, with two lanes heading West and one lane heading East, between the Lighthouse and Abbattoir Road.

Drivers are advised to seek alternative routes in and out of Port of Spain, via the Lady Young Road, or the Market Overpass, to avoid delays.

Drivers are also asked to proceed with caution and observe all directional signs and barriers, to comply with guidance from police officers and to drive at a reduced speed when entering and exiting the work zone.

Drivers should also be wary of heavy equipment when entering and exiting the site.
