Pastor charged with eight counts of buggery

A 33-year-old pastor who allegedly sexually assaulted a 21-year-old man appeared before a Chaguanas Magistrate on Thursday charged with buggery and serious indecency.

Christopher Pereira was granted $75,000 surety bail when he reappeared before Magistrate Wendy Doughdeen-Bally in the Chaguanas Magistrates' Court.

Pereira was charged with eight counts of buggery and one count of serious indecency.

The court ordered him to have no contact with the victim, to stay 100 metres away and to report to the Chaguanas Police Station on Mondays and Thursdays between 6 am and 8pm.

The pastor, who is the head of the ISM Ministries, allegedly sexually assaulted the socially displaced victim at a counselling room in Valencia between April and June 2019.

He will reappear on September 19.
