PCA launches probe into fatal shooting of pregnant woman

Ornella Greaves, 30, was shot during protests along the Beetham Highway on June 30.
The Police Complaints Authority (PCA) has initiated an investigation into the fatal shooting of 30-year-old Ornella Greaves along the Beetham Highway on Tuesday.
Greaves was shot during protests off the eastbound lane of the Beetham Highway.
She was four months pregnant.
Police said that at the time, they were shooting back at unknown persons who had shot at them.
However, residents claimed officers at the scene at the time had randomly shot into the crowd, hitting Ornella in her hip.
In a statement on Thursday, the PCA said as an independent oversight body, it is committed to ensuring that no police officer acts above the rule of law and to empowering the citizenry to report incidents of police misconduct and/or criminal activity.
