PCA to probe cops' conduct in UWI protest

The Police Complaints Authority (PCA) has launched an independent investigation into the conduct of police officers during an alleged unlawful protest at the St Augustine Campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI) on Thursday.

The probe follows a complaint received by the Authority via the ‘PCA Mobile App’.

Thursday's protest at the St Augustine Campus resulted in the arrest of and subsequent laying of charges against two male students of the UWI who were allegedly participating in the said protest.

Based on the complaint, the PCA has commenced an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, pursuant to Section 26 of the Police Complaints Authority Act, Chapter 15:05.

The PCA is asking for any witnesses to or persons with information on or regarding the incident to contact them at: 800-2PCA /800-2722, 627-4383 / 627-4386.
