PCA probes fatal Carenage shootout
The Police Complaints Authority (PCA) has launched an investigation into the police-involved shooting in Carenage last Friday which left three people dead, including a teenager.
The PCA said pursuant to Section 26 of the Police Complaints Authority (“PCA”) Act Chap. 15:05, its civilian investigators will conduct an independent investigation into the shooting which resulted in the deaths of Niomi Nelson, Keron Eve and Kareem Baldwin Roberts.
Upon the conclusion of the investigation, a report will be forwarded to the PCA.
On receipt of the said report, the Authority shall determine whether there is sufficient evidence to support a recommendation for prosecution and/ or the institution of disciplinary proceedings or closure in the investigation.
The PCA said as an independent oversight body, it is committed to ensuring that no police officer acts above the rule of law and to empower citizens to report incidents of police misconduct and/or criminal activity.
