A Penal man is expected to appear in the Siparia Magistrates’ Court today charged with the March 31 murder of his girlfriend, Alisha Ramnath.
Police charged Keshan Bhagnathsingh, 41, with Ramnath’s murder on Sunday, following advice received from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Joan Honore Paul.
Ramnath, 39, from Clarke Road, Penal, was discovered dead at her home by relatives, on the said date.
Autopsy reports revealed the cause of death to be manual strangulation and blunt trauma to the head. Bhagnathsingh was later arrested by officers attached to the Central Division Task Force two Thursdays ago.
Insp. Corrie, of HBI Region 3, supervised the investigations into this matter.
Charges were laid by Cpl. Deo, of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) Region 3, on Sunday.
