Penal man died of natural causes, autopsy shows

A 27-year-old man who was detained on Sunday following the death of Manza Samnath, has been released from police custody.

Samnath, 38, of Quinam Road, Penal, died at about 9:30 pm on Sunday following a confrontation with a relative at his home.

The confrontation got physical, following which Samnath walked out to the yard, where he collapsed.

He was rushed to the San Fernando General Hospital, however, he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The younger relative was subsequently detained.

However, an autopsy performed on Monday revealed that the 38-year-old man died as a result of a heart attack.

As a result, the suspect was released.

The matter is currently being treated as a death by natural causes.
