Penal man held on drug trafficking charges

A 32-year-old man has been held on allegations of possession of cocaine for the purposes of trafficking.

The suspect, who is from Digity Village, Penal, was held in Barrackpore on Saturday night during a police exercise.

The exercise involved PC Tambie and a party of officers from the Barrackpore police station.

The officers had cause to stop and search the 32-year-old man, during which he had in his possession 10.5grammes of cocaine and 50 grammes of marijuana.

As a result, the suspect was arrested and taken into custody.

He was charged and was due to appear before a Siparia Magistrate on Monday.
