Penal pastor held with gun

A 53-year-old pastor is currently in police custody, after a loaded firearm was allegedly found in his home.

The find was made around 12:30 am on Tuesday by officers of the Central Division Task Force.

According to police reports, a team of officers under the supervision of Sgt Glen Persad and Cpl Leon Bassant, received intelligence which led them to a home along Jhulai Trace, Penal Rock Road, Penal.

At this location, the officers executed a search warrant, and the weapon – a .38mm pistol – was allegedly found and seized, hidden in a shoe in the pastor’s bedroom.

As a result of the find, the suspect was immediately arrested and taken into custody.
