Pensioner robbed of vehicle at gunpoint

Police have issued a reminder to drivers to be aware of their surroundings after a 70-year-old man was robbed of his car at gunpoint Thursday morning.

This incident took place around 6 am along Fourth Street, Barataria.

The victim was driving around the area looking for flowers so he could perform a “puja” prayer ceremony.

On approaching Fourth Street and Eight Avenue, Barataria, the man saw some flowers he thought would be appropriate and stopped his vehicle.

However, as he did so, he was approached by two men who were walking along the roadway at the time.

The men, armed with firearms, confronted the elderly man and announced a hold up.

They then relieved him of his vehicle.

Thankfully, the victim was unharmed.

The police were notified and they responded.

PC Morrow is continuing inquiries.
