Petit Valley man killed by men dressed in police gear

One man is dead after men dressed in police uniform stormed a Petit Valley home on Thursday night.

According to reports, around 11.39 pm, three men dressed in police uniform with bandanas partially covering their faces arrived at the Upper Stoer Drive home of Daniel ‘Danny Boy’ Gowrie.

The men were reportedly dressed in blue shirts with "Police" written across the front and black tactical pants and were all carrying what appeared to be long firearms.

They called out "Police! Police!" to the occupants of the home and Gowrie’s mother opened the door.

The suspects entered the home and saw Gowrie sitting near a window. They ordered him on to the ground where they handcuffed him and hauled him outside.

The victim’s mother reported hearing a commotion followed by several loud explosions after her son was taken outside.

When she investigated, she saw Gowrie’s lifeless body laying outside under a street light outside their home and saw a grey RAV4 driving away.

This is the second homicide in 24 hours involving suspects dressed in what appeared to be police gear.

Early on Thursday morning, David Doonie was shot dead at his girlfriend’s home in Malabar by men posing as police officers.

Investigations are continuing into both incidents.
