PH taxi stolen at gunpoint recovered
A vehicle which had been reported as stolen at gunpoint, was recovered near the Queen’s Park Savannah.
The vehicle, a white Nissan Tiida, was recovered near “The Hollows”.
According to police reports, the victim, from Diego Martin, was plying his private vehicle for hire on Tuesday morning and had cause pick up two men at Independence Square North.
The men were heading to St James.
However, while proceeding west along Tragarete Toad, in the vicinity of Victoria Avenue, both men pulled out weapons and announced a hold up. One man pulled out a gun, while the other pulled out a knife which was placed to the neck of the driver.
The driver was ordered to bring the car to a stop, following which he was forced to surrender his cellular phone and cash.
The men then escaped with the vehicle.
The police were immediately notified, and the investigators conducted several inquiries in the area.
CCTV footage from cameras set up throughout Woodbrook and Port of Spain were even utilised, and the vehicle was observed parked at the Hollows where it was recovered.
Woodbrook police are currently searching for the two suspects, both described as being of African descent, slim built, and in their early 20s.
